Your Best Work Where Customers Notice For accelerated cycle times, improved productivity ‐ and for a consistent key indicator of high-quality paint jobs in auto body repair ‐ our 3M Smooth Transition Tape is designed specifically to eliminate hard paint lines and visible paint transitions. This tape applies easily and works without any extra effort during the masking and prepping process. It helps create a flawless appearance where customers, and insurance companies, know to look ‐ at door jambs, hood and fender jambs, quarter panel edges and trunk lines, and along outside body lines. How it Works The tape is inch wide and features a raised ridge down the center. This ridge is the only part of the tape that contains adhesive ‐ when applied as masking for jambs or outside body lines, the edges spread evenly from the center and allow the paint to feather in naturally. This creates a virtually invisible paint line between the existing coating and the new, without any extra effort by the paint technician. And it results in much less potential rework versus traditional tape/paper systems or folded tape systems. Our 3M Smooth Transition Tape is also great for stone chip coating. Simpler, Faster and BetterReduced rework and faster cycle times bring peace of mind to operators of high volume shops..Auto body technicians simply apply tape strips along the jamb or other area to be painted, spray over the tape, let the coatings fully flash dry and remove the tape. And a custom-designed dispenser helps keep 3M Smooth Transition Tape clean and ready to dispense between uses. Created to Eliminate Hard Paint LinesOur 3M Smooth Transition Tape is yet another way that 3M applies science to make life easier for auto body repair technicians. Its design, unique to automotive aftermarket, virtually eliminates the hard paint lines and visible paint transitions that can signal a sub-par paint job to insurance companies and consumers. It is also fast and easy to use, maximizing time and output for auto body shops.
